Recently, according to the statistics of foreign data expert Kevin Rooke, as of October this year, 807954 vehicles have been sold in total, surpassing the sales record of 787150 vehicles (including pure electric vehicles and vehicle sales), becoming the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer. From their cumulative sales curve of electric vehicles (including plug-in hybrid vehicles), we can see that the cumulative sales of the two manufacturers have been surprisingly close. Until 2016, Tesla will stay ahead. After 2016, BYD's sales volume surpassed Tesla's, and this advantage lasted until 2019. Now, it is surpassed by Tesla. In terms of product strategy, Tesla takes high-end models as the entry point, and gradually penetrates into the low-end market, and only makes cars; on the contrary, BYD focuses on the low-end market, and gradually attacks the high-end market, and both pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid models have layout. According to Kevin Rooke, in recent years, the sales volume of BYD plug-in hybrid models has been declining, while the sales volume of pure electric vehicles is still growing rapidly. So far, there is no direct competition between the two car companies, but this situation may change in the near future. BYD will launch a large and medium-sized sedan, which is considered to be a competitor of Tesla Model 3.
