NXP semiconductor (NXP) recently announced the launch of a new s32g vehicle network processor. This processor supports the latest ADAS (Advanced assisted driving) applications, which can help the automotive industry shift to a high-performance, domain based vehicle architecture, reduce software complexity, and significantly improve the overall integration of the vehicle network. At present, the s32g has been adopted by the world's major OEMs to help OEMs transform from car manufacturers to vehicle data-driven service providers. With the continuous development of vehicles towards interconnection, automation and electrification, a large number of data-based services will emerge. S32g is the first time in the world to integrate the traditional MCU and the high-performance MPU with ASIL D functional security (the highest security level) into one chip. At the same time, it integrates the network communication accelerator. Compared with the previous single functional chip, the performance has been significantly improved. At the same time, the processor can safely manage the transmission of vehicle data, protect the key applications from malicious use, and improve the safety of vehicle network. With the support of this technology, OEMs have begun to study new business models, such as vehicle usage based insurance, vehicle health monitoring and fleet management services. "Audi A8" in fact, the world's first mass-produced vehicle equipped with L3 system Audi A8 has adopted NXP car entertainment and car anti-theft system, as well as many car network technologies, adding a series of latest applications such as advanced driving assistance system, adaptive cruise control and active chassis stability system. Bernhard Augustin, development director of autopilot ECU, said: "the combination of network communication, computing performance and functional security of s32g processor is very suitable for our next generation ADAS domain controller."
