Schaeffler Group and abte line have reached an agreement on the strategic cooperation of electrification of light commercial vehicles under 3.5 tons. Abte line is a high-quality partner in light electric commercial vehicles (LCVs). Schaeffler Group will provide partner supply management experience and technical solutions for all aspects of electric drive systems including development. In the initial stage, the cooperation between the two sides will focus on project management from concept to certification, as well as system supplier management with Volkswagen and abt. After that, Schaeffler will provide cooperation with "relevant expertise in procurement, production and quality assurance". This is not the first collaboration between the two companies: Schaeffler engineering, a subsidiary of the Schaeffler Group, is already developing control electronics for abte line. In addition, Schaeffler and ABT have worked together in formula e (now the sports factory team) since 2014. "Based on our trust and successful partnership with the abt group, we now decide to work together to address the challenges of commercial vehicle electrification. Klaus Rosenfeld, chief executive of Schaeffler, said. He believes that "the combination of ABT's entrepreneurial approach and Schaeffler's understanding of the system, as well as in-depth expertise in powertrain and chassis applications, will put both sides in a perfect position to create new things and develop faster. Hans-j ü rgenabt, executive partner of ABT Sportsline GmbH, said, "we started the cooperation with Volkswagen commercial vehicles a year and a half ago, which is an ambitious project for abt. I am proud that we will soon see the first electric abt vehicles on the road. it is reported that one of the earliest vehicles used by Volkswagen is Abbot caddy, which can be ordered recently. It is expected that vehicles leased to customers will start production in the first quarter of 2020. The basic vehicle will come from the Volkswagen commercial vehicle and its electric equipment will be retrofitted by Abbot line.
