Schaeffler Group and ABT e-line, a subsidiary of ABT group, announced to strengthen further cooperation, and the two sides will establish a new strategic cooperation relationship, committed to promoting the electric development of light commercial vehicles under 3.5 tons. Abt E-line is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABT holding company. As a partner of commercial vehicles, ABT E-line is responsible for the electric modification projects of light commercial vehicle models such as Volkswagen T6 and caddy, as well as the after-sales warranty and other services of electric drive assembly system. Schaeffler and ABT have deepened cooperation to promote the development of electric light commercial vehicles in 2014. Since the establishment of cooperation between Schaeffler Group and ABT group in the field of formula e racing, the two sides have jointly carried out cutting-edge research and development. In this cooperation, Schaeffler will contribute technical expertise and management experience to develop and provide power driven assembly system solutions. Initially, Schaeffler will work with Volkswagen and ABT to focus on project management - from concept to certification - and system supplier management. Schaeffler's extensive expertise in procurement, manufacturing and quality control will play an important role in the cooperation. Schaeffler engineering has begun to develop electronic control systems for abt E-line for electric retrofitting of Volkswagen light commercial vehicles. In the new cooperation, Schaeffler Group and ABT E-line will work together to develop advanced electric drive assembly system and integrate it into vehicles, mainly focusing on light commercial vehicles and special vehicles. In addition, both sides will develop flexible Mechatronics chassis solutions. In the medium term, Schaeffler expects the market demand and production of commercial vehicles and special vehicles to further increase. The reduction of urban vehicle emissions is mainly focused on light commercial vehicles, especially vehicles used for urban traffic. In addition, automakers have to meet the emission regulations for light commercial vehicles - the emission credits for commercial vehicles and passenger cars cannot be offset each other. Today, the performance of the drive motor has been able to meet the daily use requirements of light commercial vehicles in the city to a large extent. In addition, from the perspective of transportation concept, light commercial vehicle market is becoming more and more important. The demand for clean, efficient and economic mobile travel in major cities of the world is growing rapidly, and mobile travel service providers are actively catering to this trend. Urban transportation, such as passenger transportation and logistics, provides great potential for the application of solutions. Mr. Klaus Rosenfeld, chief executive of Schaeffler Group, said: "on the basis of years of mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides, Schaeffler and ABT once again work together to meet the challenges of commercial vehicle electrification. Abt's operation, together with Schaeffler's understanding of the system and rich expertise in powertrain and chassis applications, will help us to continuously explore innovation and achieve faster development. A year and a half ago, we started to cooperate with Volkswagen commercial vehicles, which is a grand project for abt, and we will soon see the first batch of pure electric commercial vehicles modified by ABT on the road, which I am very proud of. Schaeffler has rich technical expertise, and the strategic partnership with Schaeffler has given us a strong partner to jointly address the challenges of electrification. "
