Virtual R & D is based on a variety of digital data to build a virtual vehicle model and driving environment to complete the trial assembly of actual parts and vehicle R & D. Designers can quickly change the design and evaluate it, timely adjust the deviation in the test, and effectively improve the completion of the vehicle. Designers use virtual R & D programs to evaluate the design quality of the world's largest VR design evaluation site, which is open to the outside world. In March this year, Hyundai Kia automobile invested 15 billion won (about 89.12 million yuan), completed the world's largest and most advanced VR design evaluation site, and perfectly created a virtual space platform that can evaluate the design quality. VR design evaluation site adopts the most advanced facilities, which can realize 20 people to use VR for evaluation at the same time. The appraisers can appreciate the exterior design of the vehicle, enter the vehicle and enjoy the interior decoration of the vehicle, and realize part of the operation. A total of 36 motion capture sensors are set up on the site. After the evaluators wear VR devices, these sensors can accurately capture their position and moving track, with an accuracy of 1mm. In the assessment, the assessor can change the parts, materials and colors of the vehicle at will with a simple button operation, and can also assess the rationality of vehicle use performance (UX) and four-dimensional space design, so as to create the best car model in the minds of customers. Before that, the material and color should be taken into account when making the sample car model, while the virtual R & D process of modern Kia automobile can omit this tedious step and greatly reduce the cost and time. At the same time, it can also create more creative and rich design style, so as to provide customers with higher quality products. The designer uses the virtual R & D program to design the automobile headlights. In the future, the design department of Hyundai Kia automobile plans to join hands with the design centers in Europe, the United States, China, India, etc. to build a virtual space where the global designers can design vehicles together, and participate in the evaluation through the far-range VR design evaluation system. In October this year, the final design evaluation of the battery heavy truck concept vehicle Neptune began to use the VR design evaluation site. Since then, Hyundai Kia has started the trial operation of the VR design evaluation site, and plans to promote and apply it to the design evaluation of all new cars in the future. The VR design quality test system is used to develop vehicles with a higher degree of completion. By collecting 3D data of all vehicle design departments to make virtual digital vehicle, the safety, quality and operability of vehicle are evaluated in the virtual environment. Before the digital vehicle evaluation, only through the screen image, the driving scene is observed in 2D environment, and the accuracy of performance test has certain limitations. In order to break this limitation, the newly built VR design quality test system is based on accurate design data to produce 100% of the same virtual digital vehicle as the actual vehicle, fully display the virtual vehicle driving scene, conduct three-dimensional evaluation on the vehicle according to the rationality between parts, and effectively improve the accuracy. Researchers wearing VR devices can also drive virtual digital vehicles by themselves. Through the operation of the controller, they can freely view the profile of the driving vehicle and confirm the operation or driving conditions of the components. This advanced technology makes the impossibility in the actual vehicle test possible, grasps the problems of R & D vehicles and the areas to be improved faster and more accurately, and is expected to feed them back into the real design concept. In addition, VR design quality test system is widely used, which can not only test the safety of virtual driving under the conditions of highway, ramp and tunnel, but also test the driving conditions of doors, trunk, engine cover and other components, as well as the spatial sense and visual field angle of the driver's seat. Modern Kia's design department plans to apply VR technology to future production and assembly lines to test assembly performance and create a more ergonomic and efficient assembly line and working environment. Strengthen the virtual R & D process, accelerate the model R & D of modern Kia automobile plan, introduce the virtual R & D process in an all-round way, apply it to the whole process from commodity planning to production R & D, walk in the front of R & D, improve the quality of the car and save costs at the same time. The R & D time of new cars is expected to be shortened by about 20%, and the annual R & D cost will also be saved by about 15%. The goal of the virtual R & D process is to develop high-quality vehicles quickly and cheaply, and combine with the R & D organization based on the architecture to expand the synergy. From the beginning of establishing the concept of new R & D model, integrating multi department data to build a virtual vehicle model, before entering the design stage, it can achieve a full range of tests, and flexibly respond to the needs of the market and customers.
