This is the second time Magna has acquired lighting technology company. The deal is expected to be completed on November 25 and will enhance Magna's global manufacturing capabilities. The engineering team of wipac Czech s.r.o. mainly designs and develops automobile headlights for European and luxury brands. The company has more than 40 engineers, providing technical services for high-end customers such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Daimler, and so on. "We see that wipac Czech plays an important role in our growing global lighting business, particularly the automotive headlamp business for European car manufacturers," said John O'Hara, President of Magna's Electromechanical, automotive mirror and lighting division. Lighting business is also a strategic growth business for us, because the level of integration of electronic equipment and sensors is constantly improving, and the trend of making vehicles have differentiated characteristics through modeling in the industry is becoming more and more obvious. " In 2018, Magna acquired olsa S.p.A., a market leader in the field of automotive rear light technology in the United States. This time, Magna acquired the Czech lighting company wipac Czech s.r.o. to further expand its influence in North America. Magna has 11 lighting manufacturing plants and 3 engineering centers in the world. Now, Magna is able to design and manufacture advanced automobile front and rear lighting products in major automobile production areas around the world, so as to better serve automobile manufacturers.
