LYFT, the second-largest online car Hailing company in the United States, has decided to purchase Pacific (or domestic dajielong) to build self driving vehicles, according to techcrunch, a foreign media. At present, LYFT is transforming its vehicles so that it can be put into road testing later. LYFT said that the choice of dajielong is mainly due to the convenience of getting on and off the vehicle and rich internal comfort configuration. At the same time, the company plans to open a second test site in California's L5 level automatic driving center, and further expand its range of unmanned taxi test operations, which are only open to internal employees. At present, LYFT is using Mondeo for autopilot test, while waymo, the world's largest autopilot, mainly uses Chrysler Metro. In May this year, waymo and LYFT reached a cooperation. The former unmanned taxi in Arizona will be connected to LYFT's online car Hailing platform to provide travel services for some passengers. Techcrunch, a foreign media, believes that it is in the cooperation with waymo that LYFT has deepened its understanding of this model of dajielong and decided to choose this model to build an autonomous vehicle. LYFT also made it clear that dajielong was chosen mainly because of its size and functionality to facilitate the test of the self driving team's unmanned taxi service. Dajielong has a huge side sliding door, which is convenient for passengers to enter. At the same time, it has a very rich comfort configuration, which is very suitable for use as a network car. In addition to announcing the introduction of the dajielong model, LYFT will build a second automatic driving test base. LYFT said that the test base is located in Palo Alto, California, like its l5 autopilot technology research and development center, which together will further increase the number of its test projects. The new test center will have scenes of intersections, traffic lights, intersections, sidewalks and other public roads, so as to conduct more realistic simulation test on vehicles. It should be noted that LYFT will continue to use gomentum test base provided by a third-party company for various tests in California. After the new test base is put into use, its test system will be more perfect. LYFT also revealed that it has tripled the number of operating routes of its internally tested unmanned taxi service this year, and will continue to expand the scope of the test. In addition, the actual mileage of self driving has quadrupled from six months ago, and the scale of the global self driving team has reached 400 people. Since the end of 2018, taxis have gradually stepped into the stage of mass production and landing. Waymo, Baidu and other companies have deployed trial commercial or test use unmanned rental projects, and didi also plans to deploy unmanned rental projects in Shanghai within the year. Now, LYFT also chooses dajielong to build the unmanned taxi, which is obviously to prepare for the deployment of the unmanned taxi service in the future, indicating that the global companies are accelerating the landing progress of the unmanned taxi, and we are not far from the time of reaching the unmanned taxi.
