In the car, from the early wired electrical signal transmission to the current network signal and big data transmission, can not do without the most basic function of vehicle connection. However, with the rapid development of the Internet of vehicles, the attention to these infrastructures is obviously not very high. Recently, valens, a company focused on providing advanced audio and video chipsets for the automotive industry, was honored to visit valens about in car connectivity and business issues. It is learnt that Valens's self-developed chipset technology can support stable and reliable high-speed vehicle interconnection, so as to meet the needs of networked autonomous driving vehicles. At the same time, its patented hdbaset technology has been adopted by the world's largest audio / video component manufacturer, which can achieve the highest quality signal connection without being limited by traditional infrastructure. Valens was founded in 2006 to address the challenges of wired connectivity. After several years of R & D and development, valens has obtained its own patent technology in this field, namely hdbaset technology. The technology can realize ultra-high speed transmission of different interfaces up to 100 meters through a single cat cable, such as audio, video, USB, Ethernet, control signal and power supply, etc., without compression and nearly zero delay, thus completely changing the professional audio-visual field. By 2014, with the continuous development of vehicle networking technology, Valens also realized that the demand for high-speed connections in the automotive industry is getting higher and higher. At the same time, if the car wants to achieve the vehicle intranet and ultimately realize the vision of the self driving car, there must be a stable high-speed connection solution. After all, whether it is the Internet of vehicles or automatic driving, the data it generates and the data it needs to transmit are massive. Without a stable high-speed connection solution, it will affect the safety of the car. Based on this, Valens set up Valens Automotive, the automobile business department. Its original intention is to provide advanced audio and video chipset technology for the automotive industry. This technology can support stable and reliable high-speed vehicle interconnection, so as to meet the needs of vehicle networking and automatic driving vehicles. At present, valens has two main business departments, audio-visual business department and automobile business department. Its headquarter is located in Israel, with about 330 employees around the world and an office in China. In this regard, relevant valens principals believe that there are huge potential and opportunities in China. As the fastest-growing automobile market in the world, there are many booming electric vehicle start-ups in China, as well as mature enterprises dedicated to the development of Internet of vehicles and automatic driving technology. At present, valens has cooperated with a number of audio-visual enterprises in China, it said. With patented hdbaset technology, valens is able to achieve unprecedented transmission speed with the simplest infrastructure in both the audio-visual field and the automotive field, and also put the company in a leading position in these two fields. However, valens' technology is not immutable, and its response strategy is very flexible. It has the necessary resources to meet the special needs of each field connection, and can also bring considerable benefits by reducing costs and increasing flexibility. As mentioned earlier, valens focuses on in car connectivity. It is introduced that its vehicle connection solution can integrate various interfaces, while ensuring high stability, near zero delay and advanced diagnostic functions. After three generations of product iterations, at present, valens' products can significantly reduce the number of required equipment, harnesses and connectors, so as to achieve weight reduction and cost reduction without affecting performance. At the same time, its ability of long-distance and high-speed data transmission will greatly simplify the in car architecture, thus reducing the overall cost of the system. Valens's three generations of products, specifically, the first generation is the va600x series, which can transmit up to 2gbps of data through an unshielded twisted pair (UTP), including USB, Ethernet (1gbe) and audio signals. It optimizes long-distance (up to 15m) vehicle connections for infotainment, rear seat entertainment and smart antenna applications. It has the flexibility of architecture and supports point-to-point and daisy chain. The second generation product is va608x series, which brings a significant leap in bandwidth. It can transmit 4-8gbps of data through unshielded twisted pair, support the stable remote transmission of PCIe, and simplify the vehicle structure in terms of high-performance computing, 5g / smart antenna / TCUs, and remote shared storage. The signal it transmits can integrate 1GB / 2.5Gb Ethernet, audio and PCIe. For the series, Daniel Adler, vice president of valens and head of automotive business, said: "valens has always been at the forefront of vehicle connection technology, helping the automotive industry to achieve ultra-high speed, several thousand megabit rate data transmission, and create a more intelligent automotive architecture. From the beginning, our goal is to provide the most flexible and reliable solution for the interconnection application in the vehicle, while reducing the overall system cost, including hardware facilities and software development. The new generation of va608a chipset achieves this goal. " The third generation product is the product that valens is about to launch. At present, there is no specific name for it. However, according to the person in charge, the chipset of this series will bring higher bandwidth rate and support PCIe, DSI, DP and even csi-2 at the same time. The technology can maintain high performance and stably transmit csi-2 in a very noisy vehicle connection environment. The new series of chipsets have been specially designed to meet the requirements of high-speed transmission and high stability of sensors, cameras, displays and other on-board equipment. This advantage allows valens to be selected by the Mipi alliance as the technical basis for the a-phy specification that it expects to release next year. The a-phy standard will define an asymmetric physical layer for the automotive industry, using standard csi-2 and DSI / dsi-2 interfaces to provide high-speed connections for cameras, displays and sensors to support autonomous driving and other applications. According to valens, competitive solutions in the market currently have technical limitations in terms of speed, transmission distance and interface. But it's a unique advantage for valens. For valens, its positioning is to focus on meeting the specific needs of customers in terms of power consumption, delay, etc., which will provide customers with the necessary functions they expect. However, in the automobile industry, although valens is not too late, it is not too early. At the same time, it can also be called a cross-border player. Therefore, in valens' view, the main challenge in the automotive industry is to understand the specific needs of the industry, including safety requirements and industry expectations. After all, car safety requirements are much higher than other industries. As for the future, valens said, on the one hand, valens will also focus on the continuous development of application manufacturers and solutions that can bring the greatest benefits and advantages to the automotive industry. On the other hand, it is in-depth discussion with global strategic partners, including China, so as to understand the specific challenges and needs of international leading OEMs and tier one suppliers, so as to be able to solve difficulties and provide optimized solutions.
