In order to fight against climate change and improve resource utilization, the car tries to recycle McDonald's coffee waste to make auto parts. On the one hand, Ford can reduce the waste of food resources, on the other hand, it can reduce the weight of auto parts. The dry skin of coffee that falls off during baking can be heated to high temperature through low oxygen, and then mixed with plastic and other additives to make headlamp shell or other parts. Previously, Ford had been using plastic and talcum powder, a non renewable mineral, to make headlamp housings. After the extraction of coffee waste, the quality of the final parts will be reduced by about 20%, and the energy consumption in the production process will be reduced by 25%. Ford said the thermal properties of the dried coffee skin were significantly better than the materials used at this stage. In July 2019, Ford and four automobile enterprises jointly issued a statement promising to produce more efficient and clean cars required by the trump government in the next seven years. The automotive industry is facing great pressure to reduce exhaust emissions. Ford also hopes to show its sincerity in environmental protection by recycling food waste and developing innovative and recyclable materials for automobile manufacturing.
