In a 15 minute online conference, Bavaria brought us a four seater electric car, BMW I4 concept car. At this time, more than half a month has passed since the concept car was released. The reason why "old car" was mentioned again is that no one expected it to be more eye-catching than BMW ix3, BMW's first car. What is the strength of BMW I4 concept car? The conference time is short, but the dry goods are full. The features of the new car are summarized as follows: 1. The new family design language is adopted, and the new energy vehicle and fuel vehicle have the same style, such as the more and more huge double kidney grille; 2. The new interior design adopts the one-piece screen for the first time, which has the charm of the old rivals; 3. The fifth generation Edrive electric drive technology is adopted, the BMW ix3 before it and the BMW after it Next will use the same technology; 4. Front and rear dual motors, with a maximum power of 390kw, 0-100km / h acceleration time of 4 seconds, and a top speed of 200km / h, it is not ruled out that there will be high-performance versions of three motors; 5. Capacity of 80kwh, wltp with a endurance of 600km, it is not ruled out that there will be longer models in the future; 6. The battery pack weighs 550Kg, so the energy density of the whole package is about 145.5wh/kg; 7. Charging power can reach 150KW, 3 It can charge 80% of the power in 5 minutes and increase the endurance by 100 kilometers every 6 minutes. We have high hopes for the BMW I4 concept car. The new car will join hands with BMW inext to fight against model 3 and. At the same time, BMW didn't give up the fuel vehicle. There are four series of fuel vehicles on the same platform as BMW I4. Even the upcoming BMW ix3, BMW generously admits that it is the pure electric version of the X3. At the just concluded BMW 2020 financial report meeting, chairman of BMW Group QI puce said that the next generation BMW 7 series will also launch diesel version, gasoline version, plug-in hybrid version and pure electric version. With the electric motor and the BMW with both hands, can both hands be very hard? The bmwi4 concept car tells us - it's hard. In order to achieve "both hands are very hard", BMW has paid a lot of real gold and silver. Take BMW I4 as an example. The new car will be produced in Munich factory, and the factory will also produce BMW 4 series in a common line, so BMW spent 2 billion euros to upgrade the factory. At the same time, BMW has invested more than 5 billion euros in R & D for five consecutive years due to its numerous models and technical routes. In order to remain competitive in the future, BMW will continue to invest more than 30 billion euros in R & D by 2025. In fact, through GE's experience in developing pure electric platforms, we can see that it's not easy for traditional car companies to develop all in pure electric platforms. But money is important, but who doesn't have any money? So, how can a stubborn BMW take into account both the internal combustion engine and the new energy? The secret lies in the fifth generation of Edrive electric drive technology. What is the fifth generation of Edrive electric drive technology? In March 2008, BMW passed a plan called "project I". Three years later, BMW officially released BMW I3 concept car and BMW I8 concept car. The electric drive technology of these two cars is called eddrive electric drive technology. In 2021, I series ushered in the first decade, and Edrive electric drive technology also evolved to the fifth generation. Although this decade is similar to the "lost decade" for I series, it is a decade of continuous evolution for Edrive technology. From plug-in hybrid to pure electric, from extended range to 48V, Edrive electric drive technology is constantly given new content. The fifth generation of Edrive electric drive technology has become BMW's masterpiece and the cornerstone of BMW's "next 100 years". There are two key points here - the battery and the drive. 1. The battery with both high and low performance is the battery first. Because the car is more sensitive to height, the battery height of BMW I4 concept car must be shorter. As a reference, the cell size of BMW I3 is 173mm / 45mm / 125mm (cell height), which obviously cannot meet the needs of BMW I4. Therefore, on the basis of BMW I3, BMW I4 further elongates and reduces the height of the electric core, and BMW ix3 is similar. At present, BMW has not announced the specific size and specifications of the new electric core. Open Netease News to view the video BMW I4 concept car: it's more popular than the big brother, but we can see some clues through the video above. For example, the overall module arrangement has changed from the vertical double row in the past to the horizontal double row in the present; 20 cells form a small module, and 2 small modules form a large module, so they can share an end plate; according to the different models, a battery pack can be composed of 6 or 8 large modules. As mentioned above, the battery capacity of BMW I4 concept car is 80kwh, but the reduced cell height will obviously lose part of the capacity. What should I do? BMW's approach is to put a set of batteries in the central channel to make up for the lost battery capacity. That's why we still see a bulging bag in the back of the BMW I4 concept car. BMW has equipped ncm811 square shell batteries for BMW I4, BMW ix3, BMW next and other models. The battery supplier is Samsung SDI. It's reasonable to say that the overall energy density of the two companies should not be as low as the current estimated 145.5wh/kg. It's unclear what special design BMW has. However, we can roughly guess that for traditional car companies like BMW, battery safety and power consumption are their most concerns, and the demand for energy density is not as urgent as that of domestic manufacturers. In BMW's official press release, "its extremely slim construction and optimized energy density" is used to describe the battery pack under the fifth generation Edrive electric drive technology. Guess from the technical means, maybe we will use CTP technology, otherwise how to improve the bulk energy density? It can be seen from the results that the limitations of the platform itself are really difficult to solve. The rumour that BMW built its own battery factory doesn't mean that BMW has given up control over the battery, although the official has refuted the rumour. In 2019 alone, BMW has invested more than 10.74 billion euros in battery and related raw material procurement. Among them, not only has the cooperation time with Ningde times been extended (extended to 2031), but the total order amount has also increased from 4 billion euros in 2018 to 7.3 billion euros. At the same time, BMW has also reached a long-term cooperation with Samsung SDI, signing a large order with a total amount of 2.9 billion euros. From 2020, BMW will go deep into lithium and cobalt mines in Australia, Morocco and other places to purchase raw materials and supply core materials for Ningde times and Samsung SDI. To this end, BMW also announced a cooperation with Jiangxi Ganfeng lithium industry in November 2019 and signed an order totaling 540 million euros. It can be seen that although BMW does not produce batteries, it directly connects with the upstream mine of battery production, so the control of cell consistency is not inferior to its own production. 2. The highly integrated electric drive is followed by the electric drive, and BMW takes the highly integrated three in one route of "motor, reducer and electric control system". By integrating the electric drive system, the power consumption is reduced and the endurance is increased, which is not different from other vehicle enterprises. Compared with the previous generation of products, the highly integrated electric drive system has smaller volume, lower weight and better adaptability to different models, with a power to weight ratio increase of about 20%. Open Netease News to view the video BMW I4 concept car: the limelight is bigger than the big brother. We can also see from the above video that, due to its smaller volume and excellent space adaptability, the motor can be placed in the position of P4 rear axle, and it can also be placed in the front axle to form a four-wheel drive. In addition, the advantage of modularization is that the size and power of the motor can change with the change of power demand of different models. BMW said in a news release of the BMW I4 concept car that the new car will use a rare earth free motor. It should be noted here that rare earth free motors are not asynchronous AC motors, but still belong to synchronous motors in a large category. However, at present, there are not many public information about this motor, so it is impossible to determine how BMW has bypassed the dependence on rare earth. However, from a 2012 motor patent application, we can see that BMW I3 and BMW I8 use a hybrid synchronous motor. This kind of motor combines the advantages of permanent magnet synchronous motor and reluctance motor, reduces the use of rare earth, and makes permanent magnet synchronous motor produce self magnetization effect. The additional excitation effect brought by the self magnetization effect, which is superposed with the current excitation, can make the motor work more reliable when it rotates at high speed. But it should be emphasized that the patent eight years ago clearly stated that the use of rare earth was "reduced" rather than "not used". Obviously, this is not the same as the motor on the bmwi4 concept car. We also look forward to BMW disclosing more technical information about rare earth free motors in the future. How will BMW go in the future? 1. Save money and survive. Although BMW's financial performance in 2019 is very good, the total annual revenue for the first time exceeded 100 billion euros, and the annual sales volume for the first time exceeded 2.53 million vehicles, with a good momentum. But we all know that the environment in 2020 will only be worse and the challenges will be more severe. Nicholas Peter, the finance director of BMW Group, cut BMW's profit forecast for 2020 to between 2% and 4%. From his report, we clearly heard the cry of "save money, live". To this end, from 2021, BMW will have 50% of the traditional power car models no longer develop follow-up replacement products, and the money saved will focus on the launch of more electric vehicles. In addition, BMW will regularly evaluate and simplify the model range. In terms of indirect procurement and material and production costs, BMW Group will strengthen internal synergy and continuously improve efficiency. 2. Keep the fuel vehicles and increase the proportion of new energy. Unlike Volkswagen and GM all in electric vehicles, BMW will continue to keep the traditional fuel vehicles. The chairman of BMW Group, Mr. zippce, said that sustainable travel solutions must win people's favor rather than tell them what to do. As a result, BMW offers at least one electric product for almost every product line. They believe that consumers should have the choice and be able to choose electric travel without any other compromise. This concept is called "the right to choose" by BMW. By 2023, BMW will launch at least 25 new energy vehicles, more than half of which are pure electric vehicles. According to zippce, the next generation will launch four different power forms: diesel, gasoline, plug-in hybrid and pure electric. The new car is expected to be officially launched in 2022. No matter how BMW respects the "right of choice" of consumers, new energy must be the main dependence of BMW for the next 100 years. According to BMW's forecast, by 2021, the demand for electric vehicles will double that of 2019; before 2025, the global new energy sales curve will show a significant upward trend, with an average annual growth rate of more than 30%. In order to remain competitive, BMW will continue to invest more than 30 billion euros in R & D by 2025. 3. PHEV is still the focus of this year's BMW ix3, BMW I4 and BMW inext. There is no doubt that they are the models that BMW will push in the next few years, but at least not this year. According to the prediction of LMC automotive, the sales volume of PHEV models in Europe will exceed that of pure electric vehicles in 2020. It is expected that the sales volume of PHEV models this year will reach 717000, or 4% of the whole market. However, the sales volume in 2020 is expected to reach 652000, or 3.6% of the market. This kind of advance is basically consistent with the current situation of BMW. According to data statistics, in 2019 alone, the sales volume of BMW 530le in China reached 26000 units, with each of the world's
