In late November, BASF, a German chemical giant, launched the construction of its new integrated base in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, with a total investment of 10 billion US dollars. It is the largest investment project ever invested by BASF. On December 5, BASF announced once again to expand its investment in China and expand its coating base in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. The new base will build a new automobile repair paint facility, which is planned to be put into production in the first half of 2022, with an annual production capacity of 40000 tons. BASF coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. was formally established after the acquisition of a local enterprise in 2016. It is BASF's first automotive touch up paint production base in Asia. In the past three years, BASF has invested continuously in the environment, health and safety, product quality, R & D and talent of the base. After the acquisition, BASF has established a technology center in Jiangmen, focusing on the development of color technology and sustainable high-performance products, serving the repair paint and commercial transportation industry in the Asia Pacific region. BASF coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. currently mainly provides a wide range of automotive coatings and solution combinations for commercial vehicles, including paint, top coat, putty, intermediate coat, filler, toner, varnish, hardener, diluent, desiccant and mixture, etc. By the end of 2018, BASF had 27 production bases in Greater China. Dr. Zheng Daqing, global senior vice president of BASF Greater China business and market development, said: "Guangdong Province is of great strategic significance to BASF Greater China. This time BASF will increase its investment in Jiangmen base, and its production capacity will double. " Zhao Zhengyu, senior vice president of BASF Asia Pacific Coatings business department, said: "the main reason for the decline of China's automobile market is the change of industry structure, the past high-speed growth situation and profit model are changing. With the launch of a large number of new cars, the second-hand car market will also expand, so enterprises have increased investment in repair paint factories. " BASF is not only a German chemical enterprise, but also one of the largest chemical plants in the world. It mainly focuses on six business areas: chemicals, materials, industrial solutions, surface treatment technology, nutrition and nursing, and agricultural solutions. Up to now, BASF has more than 100 subsidiaries or joint ventures in more than 40 countries, with a total number of employees of more than 120000.
